SALE!!!!!

Well, hopefully that got your attention!innocent smileys

Bryan Davis ( one of my favorite authors ) is having a sell for his newest book, I Know Why the Angels Dance.

And get this, all of the funds that this book makes, goes to charitable causes so he is not making anything on them! Here is the description on the back of the book:

' What salve can heal the deepest of wounds when dawn breaks and the nightmare is real? What words can console a grieving father or mother when the blossom of the womb fades and falls? Images of hope, soft words that set the mind at ease, beautiful memories brought home by a beautiful story.

I Know Why the Angels Dance is a healing salve; it incites a cleansing catharsis; it serves as a holy image-maker, mending hearts and minds with glimpse of heaven's glory. It opens spiritual eyes. We are all on a collision course with the unknown. Will it a plunge into darkness or a passing from one one existence into a brighter one? Two fathers, one in the light and one in darkness, each face the reality of that passage, and both struggle to find and apply the healing balm. Yet, God uses the faith of a child to reach out to the downcast - the hand of an extraordinary girl leads them to the healing they long for. The reality of death meets the hope of the ages, and the victory comes in the visions and songs of a little girl. After reading I Know Why the Angels Dance, you will cherish life and family like never before, and the passage everyone must make will no longer be a leap into darkness. It will be a step into glory.'

I have read the book myself, and this doesn't do it justice! It really is a GREAT book!

So, why am I posting this? Well, Bryan Davis is having a little contest of a sort. The first 75 people to get 10 books sold, will receive a prize. I have a special code that will knock of two dollars of the original price (making the book only $10). So, if you would like to buy this book, enter the code below here:

15... WOW...

Yup! Today is my birthday and it's my 15th. I can't believe I'm 15. I know, I know! Most of the time the one having the birthday isn't supposed to be the one saying 'I Can't believe I'm that old!!!'. That is supposed to be your parents, aunts, grandmothers, and (in my case) little sisters. But, hey! Give me a break! I'm going to be driving soon! :0

Speaking of driving! I have had two driving sessions with my driver's ed teacher so far! It's going pretty good! Tomorrow is my 3rd time, so please be praying for me!

I found an AWESOME blog the other day and want to share it with you!

Guess!

I have decided to have some fun! What I'm going to do is, I'm going to get my iPod, put it on Shuffle, and list the first 12 songs that it picks. I will list a few of the lyrics for each song and you guys get to guess what song it is! The one who gets the most correct will be announced in my next post, 10 days from now, on Nov. 11th. OK! Here are the lyrics:

1. A father lived in silence saw his son become a man, there was a distance fell between them because he could not understand that Love isn't Love, until you give it away.

2. I gotta go, I'm 'bout to do a show, can't take the stress, wanna give you my best Lord, can't sing with this hangin' over me, but the show must go on, Lord, set me free.

3. You've got world upon your shoulders - it don't have to be this way, you can't stop your heart from hurtin' - or take the pain away.

4. I come on my knees - to lay down before you, bringing all that I am - longing only to know You .

5. Down the road just a mile or two - lives my little girl name Pearly Blue, 'bout so high and her hair brown - prettiest thing boys in this town.

6. I hear you sayin' that you life is an illusion - there's something missing deep inside, I think you know that there is only one solution - your Fathers waiting for ya' with arms open wide.

7. I've got the lights turned up - back doors locked - bedroom tv's on, doing the only thing that gets me through the nights since you been gone.

8. At last - my love as come along, my lonely days are over - and life is like a song.

9. Oh yes I'm the great pretender - pretending that loves still around, my need is such I pretend too much - I'm lonely but no one can tell.

10. All of my life I've been in hiding - wishing there was someone just like You, now that you're here - now that I've found You.

11. Not a word was heard a the tomb that day - just shuffling soldier's feet as they guarded the grave, one day - two days - threes days had passed - could be that Jesus had breathed his last.

12. My chains are gone - I've been set free, my God my Savior -has ransomed me.

Alright there they are! The lyrics happen at any time in the song. Also, I'm not going to posting comments until November 11th so that nobody can cheat off of anyone. LET IT BEGIN! ;)

Draw Your Sword

I wrote this almost a year ago, put it in my writing notebook, and pretty much forgot about it. Yesterday, I was going through all of my school work from the whole year an saw it. I thought I would put on my blog to see what others thought about it. Here it is:
Draw Your Sword
By Katie Galyean
The time has come, O Warrior
Draw your sword, show it's might
The time has come, O Warrior
Draw your sword, let it gleam bright
The time has come, O Warrior
Draw your sword, be a knight
The time has come, O Warrior
Draw your sword, fight for the One True Light
So, there it is. Tell me what you think! ;)

Katie's Kreations in the shop

Ta-da! Here is my display at the shop where I sell my jewelry. Isn't it cool??? I really like it!

While I was at Church Camp, the rest of my family was at Music Camp. Mama was the camp photographer and Daddy was the 7, 8, and 9th grade band teacher. Mama has LOTS of photos on her blog of the whole music camp. They are REALLY good! If you would like to see them, go to this web address:

Church Camp and Katie's Kreations Necklaces and Sets

First of all, some pictures of my necklaces and jewelry sets that I have made. The pink one ended up being Jackie's. It looks a whole lot like her, huh? love smileys

This one was one of my favorites. A lot of the beads are actually magnets. VERY COOL! happy smileys

And now for (Drum roll, please!) ~
CHURCH CAMP!!!
Well, I just spent about five days at one of the best camps in the WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD!!!! I had so much fun! I woke up everyday at about 7:00 am and breakfast was at 8:30. After breakfast we would go up to the tabernacle and have a morning devotion. After the wonderful devotions, we would go to our electives. My elective was PAINTBALL!!! It was so much fun! The first day I played, I went out there and got shot in the neck. OOPS... scuba diving in Thailand It started bleeding and I had the camp nurse look at it. All she had to do was clean it. After that was lunch and then game time. After games, we went back to the cabins and got cleaned up for church in the evenings. Church is always my favorite part of the day. We have a great worship service! After the service, we had one or two more games and then it was time to go to bed and do the whole thing over again tomorrow! I had a WONDERFUL time and am planning to go back for Virginia Church of God Youth Camp 2010!

Katie's Kreations EARRINGS

Here are a few examples of the earrings that I have made for my new jewlery business, 'Katie's Kreations'. To earn money for camp and such, I started making jewelry. Now, I have jewlery in a local shop and it brought in over one hundred dollars a couple of weeks ago! I was so excited and thankful, because that took care of about 1/3 of the total amount! THANK YOU, GOD!

Those white ones are some of my favorites!

There will be more examples to come of some other pieces that I have made!

Nightmare's Edge, by Bryan Davis

This is the trailer for one of my favorite author's new books, Nightmare's Edge. I would encourage everyone to read this series! They are AWESOME! If you have any questions about them, feel free to ask me in a comment.

About two weeks ago we (My family and our Awana Trek group) went to visit the Creation Museum in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was great! There I found out that I have an interest in astronomy. I guess we will see where that goes, huh? :)

Swordfish and Tim Hawkins

On Friday, Dad took us all out to do a day trip to a few places. First, we went to Lake Waccamaw and we saw 4 wild alligators! Now, we are mountain people, and alligators do NOT congregate up in the mountains! We were all looking at them and Mama was taking pictures like crazy! Benjamin saw one and he covered up his eyes with his hands and started screaming, "I'm not looking, Mama! I'm not looking, Mama! Get me outa this mess!" Who knows where he learned that little part about the "mess".....

Later that evening, we went to a seafood place. The only seafood restaurant I can really remember going to is our Mountain Surf, the squatty little seafood place up in the mountains. So, going into this big building with a whole bunch of aquariums, was quite the new experiance. I had never seen sushi before either. GROSS.... I didn't try it (my Dad didn't try it, and if he doesn't try it, it's a big no-no!), but I DID try swordfish!!! It tasted a lot like tuna steak! It was really good! I just wish I could have seen it's nose! :)

Well, that's the 'Swordfish' part, so here is the 'Tim Hawkins' part:

I hope you enjoyed that! :)

Benjamin, the free throw shooter!

The picture above was taken with my video camera/digi cam. Today Benjamin and I went down to the basketball court and shot some hoops! Benjamin was trying to shoot some free throws, but he kept shooting straight up. smileys After getting bopped in the head a few times, he started covering his head with his hands, ducking, and running forward. sign smileys It was really amusing and cute! Maybe (if I can figure out how) I will get a video of him doing it and post it on here!

My (school) Writing for the Week

Well, this week Mama wanted me to put my school writing on my blog so that my family and friends could see what we are learning! We have been learning about the Jewish people, and what some of their customs are. This week I wrote about the Shofar horn that they use during some of their ceremonies. Here is the paper:

The Shofar and All that goes with It
By Katie G.
The Shofar is mainly made out of a ram's horn, though it can also be made out of any Kosher animal's horns, excepting cows and oxen. First, the horn is boiled in water until it is soft. It is then hollowed out and slightly flattened. While the horn hardens, the mouth piece is carefully shaped. Sometimes, especially in the Middle East, the Shofar horn will be very long and curved.
In the Bible, the Shofar was used to herald great moments! For example, when a new king was crowned, on the Jubilee that took place every fifty years, in the Sabbath, and other festivals. It also signaled the army during wartime.
There are three different calls the Shofar can make. They are called the "Tekiah", "Shavarim", and "Tervah". The Tekiah is a long, low sounding call the progresses to almost a whole octave higher when it ends. The Sheverim consists of three short notes. Last, but not least, is the Tervah, which makes nine quick, sharp, notes the end high.

Well, that is my writing for this week. I hope you enjoyed it!

Basketball is going pretty well this year! As we are the only middle school team in the Eastern side of the State, we will automatically be going to State! State is going to be next week, so please be praying for us! We would really like to do our best!

At church, I have been helping direct a drama that the younger youth will be doing on Easter. It is called 'Arise, My Love'. This is something like what we are doing:

Okay, I think that's about it for now!
